- Place one hand on the abdomen beneath the rib cage.
- Inhale slowly and deeply through the nose, sending air as far down into the lungs as possible. The hand should rise.
- After taking the full breath, pause for a moment, then exhale slowly and fully.
- While exhaling, allow the entire body to go limp.
- Count each breath up to 10 by saying the appropriate number after each exhalation.
- do two or three sets of 10 abdominal breaths to produce a state of considerable relaxation.
