Abdominal Breathing

Instructions on proper abdominal breathing:

  1. Place one hand on the abdomen beneath the rib cage.
  2. Inhale slowly and deeply through the nose, sending air as far down into the lungs as possible. The hand should rise.
  3. After taking the full breath, pause for a moment, then exhale slowly and fully.
  4. While exhaling, allow the entire body to go limp.
  5. Count each breath up to 10 by saying the appropriate number after each exhalation.
  6. do two or three sets of 10 abdominal breaths to produce a state of considerable relaxation.
