- Cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy has been shown to be useful.
- Group therapy with other individuals suffering from bulimia is often part of successful therapy.
- Because anxiety and feelings of stress often precede bingeing, alternative ways of dealing with anxiety and alternative coping strategies to lessen anxiety are useful tools.
- Family therapy is helpful and encouraged.
