Background of the Study

Sample background of the study about the effectiveness of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program in the Philippines:

The researchers do believe that recovery from mental illness became a fact – not a hope. The stigma and discrimination of the people who has history of mental illness, even they are recovered or in their full function, is still present.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program has emerged as a significant field of practice and treatment modalities since 1900’s. Countries such as Korea, Japan and Taiwan have been established and structured the PSR training program for decades.. But here in the Philippines, the psychosocial rehabilitation Program is not yet established and no structured PSR training program have been implemented as part of the treatment regimen. The authors have the desire to help the PSR training program be structured and established in National Center for Metal Health by the use of this research study. The authors aim to know how effective and efficient the PSR Program to the PSR rehabilitation patients. With this research study, we evaluate the PSR Program, to identify its weaknesses and strength and to give recommendation or basis for the improvement of the PSR Program.
